why is it that i can hear my heart beats,i can hear it stop and start back and it is very frieghting

There are any number of reasons you may "hear" your heart beating. Many quite benign, and a few quite serious. High blood pressure is one and could be a reason also for arrhythmias.

What you take to be stopping and starting may just be the sensations of hearing stopping and starting, or it may be your heart having arrhytmias.

In any case, you should see your doctor soon for a checkup. The issue of import is your concern about the heart stopping and restarting. While the occasional skipped beat is not that uncommon, if it occurs regularly it should be checked out.

In the meantime, as you wait for a doctor's appointment and it becomes too much of a worry or you experience other symptoms, go to an ER.
