I am interested in understanding why a healthcare provider would use a
5-lead ECG versus a 3-lead ECG for patient monitoring? What are the benefits and how frequently does one use the 5-lead versus the 3-lead?

Thanks for your insight.

MCL is also valuable for monitoring so a two lead system is valuable.

5 leads are better especially if the patient is on the telemetry unit.

A five lead system produces two channels. This is used in many holter systems and some telemetry systems. When interpreting rhythm strips have a second lead is invaluable when it comes to assessing the rhythm strip.
