Just like to ask your opinions on using the Total gym or Vasa Trainer or any other similar machines for sports specific workouts.

I am an endurance paddler (Outrigging) and train between 6-12 hours per week for my sport for which compete against local and international competition.

The training I use is well planed out in 24 week cycles using different intensity's based on heart rates. At present I complete my strength sessions in the gym which works fine, however I was looking to replace this gym work with the Total gym or other similar product. I don't need big bulging muscles in my sport but being powerful is certainly an advantage as with most sports.

I hear mixed reports of the Total Gym that is too easy and useless for athletes and more targeted at the average weekend warriors. Yet on the other hand other have said it is a useful tool for sports specific training.

All comments are appreciated as I do not wish to wast my time in purchasing one.
