I have been taking Advicor for a bit over 6 months. When I first started taking it I had to make a lot of changes to comply with the drug restrictions, such as no Tums, no Grapefruit, et al, no Nicain (didn't realize how comman this is.) I was instructed to take a baby asprin 1 hour before the pill, and have a snack prior to the pill.

In the first couple of weeks I had very bad side effects and followed the instructions and went to the ER (it was very late at night.) The
ER took over 3 hours before they could see me, and by then the side effects had subsided. The DR. said to take something like Benadryl if it happens again and to talk to my DR before taking another Pill.

My DR. said to take a full asprin, not a baby asprin, and continue the treatment.

I have been having mild side effects every night. Sometimes just feeling very warm. Once in a while it is as bad as that night to the
ER.

Move forward 6 months. I had a real bad reaction. (these are not in any order) My muscles did something wierd - not sure what it's called
- looking in the mirror, I could see ripples like a distorted "six pack" over areas of my body. Opposite my elbow, the muscle looked like it was swelling. My ears got warm and it felt like the air presure was changing. Then they started ringing. My mouth had a bad alkaline taste. My skin started to turn red and get real warm and itch. Eventually I had deep purple splotching as well. I got tunnel vision. I became bloated. I had a general fealing of discomfort all over my body. I couldn't think straight, had trouble with equalibrium, and because nasuas. My wife freaked out as I looked kinda wierd.

I could feel side effects coming on before all this (warming sensation) and took Benadryl immediately. These bad side effects lasted for 30 mins or so. I'm still soar 24 hours later.

I called the Dr. but they didn't seem to worried. They just switched me from Advicor to Tricor. I just got Tricor and I still have 10 hours before it's time to take it.

I'm having trouble finding much information about these problems related to Advicor. I am wondering if Tricor will cause the same symtoms? Are these symtoms just annoying, or are they leading to serious problems? Should I be worried, or just take Benadryl before taking these Statins and forget about it?
