ROFLMAO!
Actually, smoking is a factor in causing gum disease. So, take one of your famous bathroom breaks and see a dentist.
You're losing your teeth from smoking, not from quitting smoking.

ROFLYAO Mike? You're wrong to flame Roxie.
All she asked was is it normal that her gums hurt after quitting smoking?
The answer is yes. Sore gums and mouth ulcers often happen when stopping smoking. It has not yet been established why this happens (it does not have any relation to gum or other products) and the only "cure" is to use an anti bacterial mouth wash like oraldene, which will ease the discomfort.
However, yes, of course smoking causes gum disease, but this was not Rosie's question.
