Can any of you Precor Elliptical users give me your thoughts about the value of the 'ramp'. Do you really see an effect on different muscles? Does it add variety to your workout? Any other advantages?

Obviously, I am trying to decide if this 'Precor only' feature is worth the higher cost of these units and worth forgoing movable arms.

Thanks for taking time to share your experience.

I have the 5.21si, I love it, and in particular the ramp. I wouldn't dream of trading it in on the 5.33si, which now has the arm movements but not the ramp. Yes, you do feel a difference in where you are worked with the different positions, but obviously this is a compound exercise no matter where exactly the ramp is. Of course the ramp is not for 'spot-reducing', no such thing, it just works different muscle groups preferentially. The elliptical trainer is an excellent cardio workout. I have a treadmill as well, and find I seldom go on it anymore.

If you want simultaneous arm exercise, just take your hands off the bars and swing them, and add some low weight dumbbells.

I believe the top of the line Nordic Track Elliptical DOES have an adjustable ramp, at perhaps a third of the price of the Precor.
