It's quite simple ... reducing by 100 Calories per day will normally lose you about 10 lbs in a year.
When you eat, don't just eat one meal a day or two tiny ones and a big one. Balance those calories out across three meals, that way your body doesn't see a big meal and say "I gotta save some of that in case I don't get fed again for a long time" (which is why people often stop losing weight on a diet ... the body says "I gotta preserve as much of these calories as I can so I'll store them as fat" instead of letting you use them as energy"
Don't try to lose too much weight at once or you'll have the same problem, the body will try to hang onto the cals you DO eat. Slow and steady wins the race.
