My dad is 94 years old and in the hospital. He is not very strong right now as he had a broken hip but is surviving. In early May he will need a battery replacement for his pace maker. Will there be any possibility of him making it through this ordeal?

Absolutely.

Usually a "battery replacement" involves the replacement of the pacemaker itself, which is located in a pocket in the chest. The electrodes in the heart are not replaced. It is usually performed with a local anaesthetic and total time is about 45 minutes. So, basically they anaesthetize the area, cut through the skin, remove the old pacemaker, disconnect the leads and connect them to the new pacemaker, pop it back in, and check it's working correctly and stitch him back up.

The time off pacemaker is only a few moments and it's not major surgery at all.
