I jogged farther yesterday than I have to date. almost 2 miles!! yayy.
Well last night I had a major cramp wake me up. It was the front muscle of my leg running down to the top of my right foot. I started rubbing and cursing. It hurt like hell. I havent had a cramp in forever. Well the rubbing wasn't working so I stood up to walk it out. I'll be darned if I didn't get a cramp in the other leg with the same muscle. So there I was yelling and cursing in the middle of the night.(loudly)Rubbing walking and cursing and more yelling. It was funny exept the fact that I was in pain. The reason it was funny is because both of my dogs started barking and howling at me. It was to say the least a musical trio to the tone deaf only. The cramp finally subsided and I was able to go back to sleep. I felt the muscle on my right leg tighten throughout the night periodically so I really didnt sleep that well. My legs are very sore this morning as I type. I guess my body is just telling me I over did it yesterday. Anyways I just wanted to share. peace!!

P.S. yes I get enough potassium and such. I just overdid it I am thinking. And my jogging form is debatable. Anyone got a good site for proper form while jogging. I mean I wasnt able to jog from about the age of 10 or so to this year. So I had to learn how to jog as strange as that may sound. You would think running a jogging would come natural. ((shrugs))

Ouch, it sounds like you got 2 charley horses. Anyway, I am not a runner/jogger... but did you stretch your legs out before and after the run??? That could help the leg muscles stay loose and not cramp up like that.

My trainer gave me some stretches for the front part of the calf. He said most people only stretch the back muscles and forget to do the front.
Stretching the area after running (when the muscles are warmed up) may help

DH used to get cramps after tennis. The potassium was one thing, so he would have a banana before the workout. The other part was lack of salt. When he'd push real hard at tennis and sweat, he'd sweat too much salt out of his body which caused the cramps.

What resolved this for him was before he plays tennis he eats some salty foods. Either something like peanuts or potato chips or something along that lines.

He hasn't suffered the cramps since.

Maybe some gentle stretching before and after jogging would help, I knkow after I work out if I skip the stretching I ache alot more than if I do stretch.
