It's been a long time since I posted, so it is past time for an update.
May of 2002 I started Medifast -- a 500 calorie a day medically supervised liquid diet. I lost 82 pounds by November 2002 and had begun to work out.
I've done pretty well maintaining the loss. I sold my house in August and have been travelling. This has screwed up my working out on a regular basis -- but I just moved "permanently" and have been checking out gyms. I am going to do a trial membership at one that looks nice and should get back into my routine. I'll bet I've lost a lot of muscle in the last month!
I am up about 10 pounds on the weight. Me bad. I went on a real candy binge around Halloween and haven't dropped it yet. I've decided to order some Medifast so I don't let it get out of control. I swore to myself when
I lost the weight I'd never be fat again. I meant it. I was starting to have health problems and (vanity aside) I value my life too much to lose it over food.
So how are all of you?

Vanity can be a GOOD thing, as long as one doesn't take it to "Donald Trump" extremes. Good for you.

Glad to see you're still doing well. I think this is the first time I've seen a name other than 'sme'. I have a granddaughter named Sophie and love the name<g>
Hope to see you posting again.

I do feel much better -- no comparison. I'm paranoid about weight gain!
How have I maintained? Well, as I said I'm up a bit right now -- but for the most part I do low-carb. I weigh myself every morning and if I'm up a pound or two I really stick to the low carb.
If I go all out for a few days (vacation, or my Halloween candy orgy) I do
Medifast during the day and have fish and veggies for dinner. I can drop
2-3 pounds in one or two days with that regime.
I always said that (for me) Medifast was a means to and end. The hard part would be (and is) maintenance. It is a constant struggle. But worth it.
