i have a medtronics pacemaker. I'm having laproscopic hernia surgery. Do I need a medtronics persons to monitor the pacemaker. Is this correct?

I am in the same situation. I have been told that during this type of surgery they use a device which can cause magnetic interferance to the pacemaker. I am also told that a Medtronics person needs to be present to set do something to the pacemaker before the device is used and then reset it after surgery.

I'm not sure yet how that is organized so am most interested in any responses you get
