Dietary cholesterol actually has very little impact on blood cholesterol. That's not to say that you shouldn't keep it down, but it's not the big boogy man that it's painted to be.

Far more important is the amount of fat you eat.

If you have medical problems requiring a low fat diet, then you should consult with your physician for an appropriate level.

A recommended diet will have under 60gm of fat a day (some quote 67) but to go below 50 would be very good for you.

Of that 60 gm of fat no more than 16 gm should be saturated fats ... and as close to 0 transfats as you can get. Dietary cholesterol recommendations is about 300mg (.3 gm)

Eat plenty of fibre daily to help keep the fat down. High fibre cereals are good ... anything with less than 10% of your daily fibre allowance is garbage and of questionable nutritive value!!!
