how long should I wait before taking subsequent BP readings? I find that my first reading is usually the highest. If I wait minute or two and take 2 more readings, it generally goes down with the second two being pretty similar. how does taking close readings affect subsequent readings after the first? thanks.

You should wait about 5 minutes before taking the first blood pressure reading.
It usually takes that long for folks to "settle" down.
