About three weeks ago, I was given some medicine for anxiety. I took it and that night started feeling ill.. I had always had a trouble with my blood pressure being slightly elevated but that night it was dangerously highly. I did not continue the anxiety medication after that night. However, since then I have had some odd symptoms. I have been extremely short of breath with chest pain and tightness throughoutt the day. I have had two ekg's both of which were abnormal. My 24hr Holter came back normal but with a max heart rate of 160 and a min of 50. I am scheduled to have an echo this Friday but am worried about my condition. The pains are getting worse and I have also been experiencing an odd prickling sensation in my chest. My doctor seems to think that maybe the medication aggervated a condition I had previously. He said that my heart beat was very abnormal during my office visit. I have also noticed that later in the day, my heart feels like its beating too hard. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggests or ideas as to what could be going on?

samanthab, I think your doctor is right in assuming that medication aggervated a condition you had previously had but... he is wrong in letting you wait till Friday (which now is tomorrow so OK) and should have referred you to an emergency room. Obviously you are not an emergency 'case' but with matters of the heart it is only normal precaution to get a diagnosis as fast as possible to prevent possible 'surprises'...
