hcg injections

years ago my mother underwent these injections and was very successful at losing over 30 lbs in a about a 3 month or so period? anyone familiar with these and if they are still available in canada?

Stanley Bernstein at his many diet clinics. My daughter has gone three times and regained all her weight and more each time. It is extremely costly and not covered by OHIP in Ontario.

these are injections of a hormone, that helps you lose weight...they now have an oral type, but I don't know much about it. I know with my mother, she did gain weight back once, but did maintain it the next time....
It is not something that is cheap, but my doctor doesn't condsider it...so I just wondered if there were otheres that did it as well....any more info would be greatly appreciated....

thanks carol, I was only curious, because I am at my witts end with this weight thing....I too like my mother have basically watched all my life, and now after 2 children, I am just so frustrated...only 30 lbs, but I just feel like I look like a big sack of poop!!!

do you know what the cost was and how many times she did this??

Apparently not worth the money.

Human chorionic gonadotropin, a pregnancy hormone. It's commonly used in certain infertility treatments -- for example, in preparing for an n-vitro procedure, another hormone is used to produce multiple eggs and then HCG to stimulate their maturing for collection. I'd never heard of it being used for weightloss before. But as I recall, an HCG injection made me feel like superwoman.

HCG levels normally double every few days in the first 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy, and then level off and start to lower.
