my boyfriend has just confided in me that he is a bit worried about his heart.

He is at the gym 3 nights a week and trains for rugby twice a week, with a game on the Sat. His only real day off from training is Sunday! I am informing you of this as he is a muscly, fit guy - he is a joiner too, so has a very active job - not just stuck behind a desk.

He says that when he is resting, for quite a while, he can feel his heart beat. He says it is not sore, more like he "can feel his heart in his chest / is aware of his heart" he says there is no pain, but his heart itself can feel "tight". I am now really worried as he doesnt do ill or worry so the fact he mentioned it to me is big!

I have to admit, he is very sociable and can sometime binge drink at weekends and uses cocaine on a fairly regular basis when he is drinking a lot - prob say about once a month - more if there a lot of big nights out.

What do you think could be wrong with his heart? Is this something to be worried about - anyone else experienced this?

Wee Moo, the very first thing he's gotta quit is cocaine and alcohol. Those things alone can cause someone to have a heart attack already. The second thing to do is go to his doctor and request he'll be tied up to a heart monitoring device a.s.a.p.

I am a bit surprised. You and him didn't figure out yourselves that drugs and alcohol together with strenuous work will produce problems to the health?
