Hi group!

I'm getting very frustrated and wondered if I could get some feed back or advice from the group.

I do a minimum of 8 hours (sometimes upto 12 hours) of aerobics, condition and tone and keep fit, per week. I also try to swim one day per week for about 20 - 40 lengths. Unfortunately I'm not losing any weight and I'm getting very down about it.

I actually have about 50lbs to lose so it's not as though I'm trying to ride myself of the last few pounds! Initially I did feel move 'toned and tight' but surely the scales should be reflecting some of my effort.

I hope to have some comments from you.

Many thanks

Yorkie Girl xx

Let me guess...somebody, probably a 'fitness specialist,' told you that you should stay in the 'fat-burning zone' and lift little weights for 'toning.' If so, it's pure BS. Go faster, lift heavier, avoid severe diets like the plague. And don't give up!

1. Exercise is only part of the picture. Diet? See the ZigZag Diet at the Dr. Squat web site.

2. You maybe adding muscle.

FWIW, I've been having a similar experience. I changed my diet and lost 25 pounds in under 2 months. When I started lifting weights and cycling, the weight loss came to a screeching halt - in the next 2 months I lost a whopping 3 pounds. I'm sure I've regained some muscle, but it's certainly discouraging!

After reading about overtraining and the like, I started to wonder if I was eating enough to support all the exercise I was _trying_ to do. I weigh 265, and my records show that there were a lot of days when I ate less than 2000 calories. So I decided to back off and at least give my body a chance to catch up.

For the past week, I've been making a concerted effort to eat at least 2500 calories/day (which is surprisingly difficult for me to do with healthy food), and have only been doing 20-30 minutes/day on the exercise bike (I hate that thing, but it's convenient) and 1 workout. It appears that I've lost 3 pounds! Obviously, it's too soon to say if I've actually lost any fat, but I find this to be very interesting.

Please don't take this as any kind of advice, since I haven't a clue as to what's really going on.

Steve

The other posters so far have given some great advice, pointing out that nutrition is the other half of the weight-loss weapon and that you hadn't said anything about your current diet or calorie intake.

The other thing I noticed missing from your post is some indication of _how long_ you've been on this workout regimen. If you just started a month ago, it's not at all surprising
