well, I started this post 3 days ago, then didn't get to finish, and now we are having a few posts about the downside to weight loss.

I'm experiencing a downside to exercise. For me it is physical symptoms.

Symptom number 1. After hard exercise (cardio or weights) I experience cramps and spotting. (female) for a few hours. I'm on depo and haven't had a visit from Aunt Flo in years. Off for my annual this week, so i will discuss this with my doc.

Symptom number 2. About 1 hr after hard exercise (cardio or weights) I cool down, and experience extreme cold. I don't know if its the drop in blood pressure or what - but I get really cold to the point of shivers and stuff.

I really dislike both aspects of this.

This is really interesting. I am a severe night owl, so sometimes, I have to get up early for somethingm which is the middle of my night. I wake up, and I am shivering cold, regardless of how much I bundle up.
Seems to pass in about half an hour. It always happens if I get less than 6 hours of sleep. I just thought it was because we have a cooler temperature at night. Now, it makes me wonder if it was my blood sugar. I don't usually eat right away since I am not used to getting up that early.

I will try it the next time I have to get up on short sleep.

i used to get cold after a hard workout. but FOR ME it was due to blood sugar drop. so now i treat myself to a nice piece of fruit and no more shivers and icky cold feelings for me. no worry about the carbs your body will use them after a workout. main thing i can say is after a workout stay active it keeps the metabolism going strong longer. i know the one guy who takes a nap after his hard workout. not to say thats not good im just too pumped after mine to even set down.

My doc told me it was not uncommon for exercise to cause a heavier flow (or
Flo), yet in the same vein exercise is supposed to help with cramps. Yoga does help me in that arena.

I also get cold after exercise, except for my head/face. The only upside
I've found to working out after work so far is the ability to take a very long, hot shower. I'm still freezing when I go to bed but I can't bundle up because the night sweats hit even harder when wearing my flannel jammies and slipper socks to bed.

I had the same problem at night. I bought this great electric mattress pad warmer with dual controls on ebay. It is AWESOME! They also sell it at bed bath and beyond... but a different brand then the one I have. This is the brand that I bought (but King size)

I can't help with symptom 1, but with symptom 2 I can somewhat understand.
I think I get cold for a couple of reasons, first I am losing fat and it's winter, second after a workout I may sit around for a while in wet clothes or perspiration may still be on the skin and when the air hits it I get chilled. Even if I take a nice warm shower right after exercise, I can still sweat after a shower, thus the chills come back somewhat.

This never happened to me before I started skiing this year. But after several hours of skiing, I come home and sure as shit, I'm spotting - and cramping. And I'm not anywhere near the end of my shot cycle... Go figure!
I've heard that women can influence other women's cycles, so clearly this is all your fault!

Hmmmm... I dunno... I don't have either of those problems. Generally, I am just a lot colder then I used to be with less insulation.

I don't know much about the first thing, but the second sounds like trouble. Unless you're cold because you're sitting in sweat-soaked clothes, I'd get a cario checkup.

I've had the same hairdresser for 4 years so she's seen my transformation. When I arrived for my haircut today she said "Now don't you wish you had some of those pounds back to keep you warm?"

"ummmm, gee NO" It's 8 below zero - everyone is cold today aren't they?
