Do you benefit more from a 60 min treadmill workout as opposed to 2 30 min. treadmill sessions. (One in the morning and one in the evening)?

Personally I don't think so... I think twice a day for 30 minutes is better.

depends on what you're running on the treadmill for.

For calorie/fat burn and weight loss, intervals is the best way.

A method i use is run as fast you can for 1 minute, jog at a low-medium pace for 2 minutes to catch your breath. Do this cycle 3 times for the first 3-4 weeks, then increase to 4 times per week and increase as you see fit. Warmup for 5 minutes before the run, and cool down for 5 minutes after the run.

The cardio rehab program I went through recommended at least 30 mins of moderate cardio exercise per day (treadmill / cycle etc.) If less than 30 mins then 2 sessions at least 20 mins each. Plus the warm up and slow down.
