I've read in this group that if you don't eat enough and are doing a rigorous exercise program the body will store food as fat (starvation mode).

Also stated in this group the only way to lose weight is more calories burned than calories taken in.

How is this different and Why doesn't his trigger the starvation mode of the body?

Great Group!!!

That's not quite right. It's not that the body will store food as fat, it's that it will try to hang onto the fat stores it already has, at the expense of lean muscle.

Correct. You can do this through diet alone, or exercise alone, but most folks find it easiest to accomplish through a combination.

It's a matter of degree. If you keep the calorie deficit reasonable (500-1000 calories per day), you won't trigger this survival mechanism. If you go overboard, you will.

Hi Ron,

I have one myself and I love mine. It isn't as quiet as I thought it would be But it doesn't bother me. I like the fact your not pounding your feet on a hard surface. Mine seems to run very smoothly. It was very noisy and not real smooth when I first got it, but the big nut attatched to the crank shaft was loose and I did not know it till it started really knocking then I seen the shaft was loose so I tightened up the nuts and now it is as smooth as can be. I find it really works your legs.
