One tool that really helped me handle craves was this

Instead of fighting craves (like previous quits), the above taught me how to sit back and examine them. They really can't hurt us. We can only hurt ourselves by acting on them. But if we examine them as clinically as possible, they lose their power over us.
I don't know what I thought they could "do" to me, but once I realized they just ARE sometimes, it became much easier to deal with them.
